These are the seven books that I read for the week of February 10th- February 17th. This brings my yearly reading total to 49 books. These books totaled 1,817 pages. I had one DNF and one 5 stars. Now let’s onto the books.

The Devil in the White City By: Erik Larson
This is the book that I DNF’d at page 124. I feel bad because my daughter in law recommended it to me. I so wanted to enjoy this book because I have heard about the fair in Chicago and the murders that happened at the same time, but this book was so slow, and I found myself only caring about the murderer parts and the part about the fair. Or I should say more about the prepping of the fair and the building of it.

Killing Me Souffle By: Ellie Alexander
I gave this book 4 stars. I have a review for this book. Here is the link. https://debbiesreadingcorner.com/2025/02/14/killing-me-souffle-book-review/

A River Enchanted By: Rebecca Ross
I gave this book 3 stars. Girls are missing from the island Jack returns home. Adaira believes Jack can help find the girls by using his music. They work together to find a way.

Best of Luck By: Jason Mott
I gave this book 3 stars. Best friends with different fortunes. One is jealous enough to kill the other.

Big Bad By: Chandler Baker
I gave this book 3 stars. An isolated family in a farmhouse. Sam is a stay-at-home dad and hates it. Rachel feels restlessness in her blood. The children are getting out of control. After a mud slide wolves are coming out. What is instore for the family.

Witchcraft for Wayward Girls By: Grady Hendrix
This is my 5-star read for the week. I really enjoyed this book. A lot of people don’t like this book because it is more historical than horror. He wrote about something that happened in the 70’s and earlier that doesn’t happen anymore. He found out that one of relatives was in a home for pregnant girls. He did his research and added a twist. I didn’t find this book horrifying but if I put myself in the young girl’s place, I would have. This book made me laugh, cry and mad.

First Lie Wins By: Ashley Elston
I gave this book 3 stars. This was a January book, and I finally got it read. Evie has everything. Until her past comes to haunt her. Can she stay one step ahead or will everything be lost.
