I would like to thank both NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press/Minotaur Books for allowing me to read and review this book.
Book Review:
This is the ninth book in a series. I have read book one and ten. I am enjoying this series and gave this book 4 stars. As you have seen this is only the third book in the series that I have read, and they aren’t in order. I would recommend that you do read them order so that you aren’t confused. The author does a great job in telling you what has happened before, and the books are stand alones for the most part it is just that the characters are the same and they have a history with each other, and you need to know them to know the story that is going on in the background.
In this story Edwin the owner of the bookshop is called by an old friend to come see a sword that was found on her property. He is unable to go so he ask Delaney to go in his place. She takes along a friend of both of theirs, so she isn’t going into something unexpected. Once they get there, they come across other people there that they weren’t expecting to be there. The old friend is upset because she hadn’t invited the people, and she wants them to leave. They soon leave and then they are taken to see the sword. As they finish looking at the sword they come upon a scene that isn’t looking good. Come to find out one of the unexpected visitors is found murder. The groundskeeper is found over the body. Did he kill the person, or did he just find him? You will have to read the book. The story has many twists and turns, and it takes you down some interesting roads. I enjoyed some of the history that is told in the book that has to deal with the sword that was found.
I love the friendship in these types of stories and the way everyone works together well. The trust between coworkers and friends is great as well. This is a quick and fun read.
