I would like to thank both NetGalley and William Morrow for allowing me to read and review this book.

Book Review:

I really enjoyed this book and gave it 4 stars. This is a historical fiction about a new way to get books to people. This book is about three different women. Two who live in Montana and one who ends up in Montana but has come from DC. Each of the ladies is from a different time period.

Millie is the transplant from Texas by way of DC. She works for the WPA and is sent to Montana to investigate the loss of some papers that was supposed to be sent to Helena.

Alice is the daughter of the major and is very protected by her father because of her weakness as a child. She has traveled to mining camps close to her home to give out books. She wants to figure out a way to get to the further camps in the state. She finally comes up with an idea and has been able to get this accomplish with some help from the locals.

Colette is the daughter of a miner and a union leader. She witnesses the death of her father, and she is seeking revenge.

What these ladies have in common is the love of books. Even though they are in different timelines you know that they will end up getting to know each other soon.

What I love about this book is the love of family and friendships. Millie learns how to finally make friends since she really didn’t have any growing up. I love the time period of this book. It spans from 1917 to 1939. I like how they stand up for themselves and the people they are trying to help.

The one thing I didn’t like was the slow beginning. I like the research that went into this book, and I learned something because I never heard of this before. I would recommend this book.
