Weekly Wrap-up

This weekly wrap-up is for the week of February 3rd-February 9th. I read a total of 10 books which brings my yearly total to 42 books. These books totaled 2,402 pages read with 1 audiobook.

The Book of Doors By: Gareth Brown

I gave this book 4 stars. Cassie works in a bookstore and befriends an elderly man. He comes every day, and they visit. One day he passes away and leaves her a book. Unknown to her this book is special and her life changes.

Chapter and Curse By: Elizabeth Penney

I gave this book 4 stars. Molly and her mum move to Cambridge, England to help their aunt run the family bookstore. During an event Molly finds one of her aunt’s old college friend dead in the yard. She starts to investigate before the police haul off her aunt for the murder.

Time after Time By: Sarah Mlynowski and Christina Soontornvat

I gave this book 4 stars. It is the third book in the Best Wishes series. Lucy lives with her mom, stepdad and half-brother. She loves her dad and gets to spend a lot of time with him. Recently he has been dating her school librarian and has the feeling he is going to propose to her, and she doesn’t like that idea. She needs to stop this from happening. The bracelet comes at the right time, and she wishes for a do over to help her.

Like a Boss By: Sarah Mlynowski and Hena Khan

This is the fourth and final book in the Best Wishes series. I gave it 4 stars. Maya receives the bracelet in the mail. There are letters from the girls before her. They tell her to take her time and really think about her wish. One day after school in a club meeting Maya forgets she is wearing the bracelet and accidentally wishes to be in charge. Things go crazy from there.

Little Author in the Big Woods By: Yona Zeldis McDonough

I gave this book 4 stars. I wish it could have been a 5 star, but the author needed to do a little more research because she didn’t have all the information correct. Nothing really major but since I have done some of my own research and visited quite a few of the sites I noticed the small things. This is about the life of Laura Ingalls Wilder. The author takes a chapter for each time frame of Laura’s life. It is easy to read and just right for young readers.

Volume 0 Issue None

I gave this short story collection 3 stars. There are 7 stories in this volume, and they were just ok. Two of them were not good in my opinion. I got this collection in the Book of the Month subscription.

The Gingerbread Girl By: Stephen King

I gave this book 3 stars. You can only get this book as an audiobook. Em starts running after the death of her baby. She continues to run even from her husband. This is helping until one day she glances in the neighbor’s driveway and things change.

WingBorn By: Marjorie Liu

I gave this graphic novel 4 stars. This is the second in a series. I enjoyed the story but not as much as the first one. I really like the art style. Zuli is still trying to figure out what is happening to the bird spirits. Her two friends go with her on the continued journey to find the answer.

Paris Undercover By: Matthew Goodman

I gave this book 3 stars. I received it as an e-arc from NetGalley. I have a review for this book. https://debbiesreadingcorner.com/2025/02/09/paris-undercover-book-review/

The Summer of Broken Rules By: K. L. Walther

I gave this book 3 stars. Every summer they go to the Martha’s Vineyard. This summer is different because her sister is no longer with them. Also, this summer their cousin is getting married and just before the wedding her boyfriend breaks up with her. Can this summer get any worse.

These books were just ok for me, and I really didn’t have a favorite this week. Have you read any of these books and if so, what did you think of them? Remember let’s not spoil anything for those who haven’t them read them yet. Let’s chat in the comments down below. Until next time, keep reading.
