I would like to thank both NetGalley and Doubleday Books for allowing me to read and review this book.
As I finally read this book 2 1/2 years after it was published, I gave it 4 stars. I am a fan of anything dealing with the American Revolution and the Civil War. This book had a lot of information about the before and after of the American Revolution. Some of which I already knew and some new information.
With that being said, because there is a lot of information you will find yourself reading this book slower than normal. I still enjoyed it though.
It goes into why we went to war and how certain people were chosen for certain jobs. It goes into why Arnold betrayed us and some information about Ben Franklin’s son William.
It talked about how they slaves were involved in the war and their parts and what the British for them and what they didn’t do. How the Native Americans helped the British and a few of the other loyalist and what became of them.
Like I said I learned some new things but really just enjoyed reading about our history.
