This weekly wrap-up is for the week of January 30th-February 5th. I read a total of 8 books which brings my yearly total to 46 books. These books totaled 2,878 pages.

Troubled Blood By: Robert Galbraith
I gave this book 3 stars. This book was a brick and should have been shorter. There is a trigger warning of attempted suicide. This is about Strike coming to the knowledge that he has to let the past go. Rose is going through some family issues.

Memphis By: Tara M. Stringfellow
I gave this book 3 stars. This follows a black family for 3 generations. Even though it told you the year and who was talking I still got lost sometimes. Otherwise, a good story. It tells about the struggle of living in Tennessee and being color.

Nana By: Brandon Massey
I gave this book 4 stars. I am so glad my grandma wasn’t like her. She wasn’t a nice lady at all. Great story even though slow for a while. Gets better near the end.

The Kitchen God’s Wife By: Amy Tan
I gave this book 3 stars. Follows an Asia lady who has married a white man who is in the Air Force. She has lost many babies but still carries on. It tells of her strengths and how she deals with issues of her life.

Lucky Penny By: Ananth Hirsh
I gave this graphic novel 4 stars. Penny has bad luck. She losses her and then her apartment. She lives in her friend’s storage unit and then one she is robbed. Can she change her luck?

Against the Currant By: Olivia Matthews
I gave this book 4 stars. I have a review up on this book. Here is the link. https://debbiesreadingcorner.com/2023/02/05/against-the-currant-book-review/

Snow White with the Red Hair By: Sorata Akiduki
I gave this manga 3 stars. It is the first volume in a series. I just thought it was okay. I will continue to read volume 2 before I make the final decision to continue on with the series. My issue was that I kept losing track of the characters and who was evil and who wasn’t.

The Light We Carry By: Michelle Obama
I gave this book 3 stars. It wasn’t as good as her book Becoming. I really wish she had more references than one for a couple of the topics she talked about. I did like the chapter that had her mom in it.
I guess my favorite book for the week was Nana. It was an okay of reading. Have you read any of these books? If so, what did you think about them and do you agree with my ratings? Let’s chat in the comments. Until next time, keep reading.
