Weekly Wrap-Up

This wrap-up is for the week of June 20th-June 26th. I read a total of 7 books which brings my yearly reading total to 160 books. These books totaled 1,792 pages read.

The Last Mrs. Parrish By: Liz Constantine

I gave this book 3 stars. This is a high 3 star.

Very slow start but picks up in part two. This is about two women from different styles of life. Daphne is rich and Amber isn’t well off but not poor. They become friends. Amber wants Daphne life and Daphne isn’t happy. All isn’t what it seems. This is all I will say about the book, you have to read it to find out what happens.

Extremely Loud and Incredible Close By: Jonathan Sagran Foer

I gave this book 4 stars.

This is a story about a young man who is dealing with the loss of his dad. His dad was in the towers on 9/11. He left several messages on their answering machine during his time in the tower before it went down. One day the boy finds a key in his dad’s things and wonders where it goes. He is on the search which leads him around New York and some new people. This is a tearjerker.

Under One Roof By: Ali Hazelwood

I gave this book 3 stars.

This is a novella. It starts out with Mara who has inherited 1/2 of a house from an older female friend. The other half of the house belongs to this woman’s nephew, Liam. Liam wants to buy out Mara’s half of the house, but she refuses. Mara needs a place to live, and this is the place, so she moves in much to Liam’s dislike. This is their story.

The Night of a Thousand Heroes By: Tracy Beach

I gave this book 4 stars.

This is a book about the June 1921 flood that happen in Pueblo, Co. It was nice to read about Pueblo and its history. The author had a lot of knowledge and did a lot of research. The only issue I had about the book was the transitions between the story of the family and events.

Genesis By: Robin Cook

I gave this book 3 stars. This is the book my husband recommend that I read.

This was not one of his better books. This book was about a new way to test DNA. There is a social worker who is pregnant and found dead. At first, they assume she died of an overdose but as things come together, they discover otherwise.

Witch Light By: Jessi Zabarsky

I gave this graphic novel 3 stars.

This is a cute YA graphic novel. It is a quick read. I have read better. This is about a witch who is on the search for her other half. She meets up with a girl who teaches her how to sword fight but not very well. They have a few adventures.

Spy X Family Volume 3 By: Tatsuya Endo

I gave this manga 4 stars.

Since this is the 3rd volume I don’t want to give too much away. The spy is ordered to a family and het his child enrolled in a very powerful private school. This needs to be done so he can get closer to his target and his child is to befriend the child of the target. This is their story and the adventures that happen. Also, everyone in the family has secret.

Have you read any of these books, if so, what did you think of them? Do you agree with my rating? Let’s chat in the comments. Until next time, keep reading.
