This wrap-up is for the week of April 25th-May 1st. I read 7 books which brings my yearly reading total to 110 books. These books total 2,229 pages read.
Plain and Fancy By: Wanda E. Brunstetter
I gave this book 4 stars. It is the 3rd book in the Lancaster Bride Series. This is about a young Amish man who falls for an Englisher who is considered Fancy. She is interested in the Amish way of life and learns from the young man. She decides to become Amish to marry him. It is rough for her, but she is determined. They do marry but her life is extremely hard as she is still learning. She becomes pregnant and isn’t happy with it. After the birth of their son, she decides to leave because there isn’t normal, and she doesn’t to raise him. She goes back home. An Amish friend comes to visit her and helps her to forgive herself and go back home to her husband and son.
The Hope Chest By: Wanda E. Brunstetter
I gave this book 4 stars. It is the 4th and final book in the Brides of Lancaster Series. This is about Rachel, Ann, and Silas. Ann is the older sister of Rachel whom Silas loves. Rachel the younger sister loves Silas. Ann has no interest in Silas and encourages him to court her sister Rachel. As time goes on Ann ends up leaving the Amish faith and Marry’s Ben who never joined the church, and he is a friend of Silas. Silas and Rachel are both hurt. As time passes Silas starts to have feelings for Rachel, but Rachel isn’t sure his feelings are true and still thinks he loves Ann. Several things happen that are too spoiler to talk about but as normal there is a happy ending.
The Spanish Love Deception By: Elena Armas
I gave this book 3 stars. This is about two co-workers who don’t like each other or do they? this is their story. She does him a favor by going with him to a charity event and he returns the favor by going to Spain to her sister’s wedding as her fake boyfriend. During this trip they learn more about each other and realize that maybe they truly don’t hate each other.
King of Battle and Blood By: Scarlett St. Clair
I gave this book 3.5 stars. I listened to this book on audio and was greatly surprised. I was not expecting all the sexy time in this book. This book is about a vampire and his wife, who he marries to help end a war. This is his story.
Ice Planet Barbarians By: Ruby Dixon
I gave this book 3.5 stars. This book is something totally out of my range of books. It is about Aliens who kidnap some women and then after their space crashes they leave them to survive on their own on another planet. This is the story of Georgie one of the women.
Omar Rising By: Aisha Saeed
I gave this book 4 stars. This is about a young man who earns a scholarship to a very nice academy. He is the son of a servant, so this is his chance to leave that way of life. This is his struggles and what happens to him.
Out of Left Field By: Ellen Klages
I gave this book 4 stars. I might even change it to 5 stars. This is one of the books that I needed to read this year to knock out some series. This is the third and final book in the Gordon Family Saga Series.
This book is about a young lady who wants to play in little league baseball. She actually makes a team but is found out to be a girl it is against the rules for girls to play. This upset her greatly and her mom encourages her to do some research to try to get them to change their mind. She actually learns about the female baseball teams in the early 40’s. I had a great time reading this book because there is a lot of history about female baseball players and the struggle of the times which is the mid 50’s.
