These are the books I read for the week of August 1st through August 7th. I read a total of 7 books which brings my 2021 reading total to 234 books. The total number of pages I read this week was 1,764. It was another good week with no books ranking below 4 stars.

One Night With A Rake By: Connie Mason and Mia Marlowe
I gave this book 4 stars. It is the second book in The Royal Rakes triology. This book is about a Lord who has to seduce his dead fiancee’s sister before she marries a duke. All of this occurs in order to get his name removed from a scandal that happened a few years before. I enjoyed it, but if you don’t like to read detailed bedroom scenes, this book probably is not for you.

An Extraordinary Union By: Alyssa Cole
I gave this Civil War novel 4 stars. It is the first book in Cole’s The Loyal League series. This book is about a former slave who helps the union by spying. She gives up her freedom and becomes a slave again to go undercover to get the information that the Union Army needs to win. It had a lot of adventures and stuck to history pretty well.

The Kindest Lie By: Nancy Johnson
This book also received a 4 star rating. This is about a woman who goes in search of her son who was given up for adoption when she was young. There is no record of the adoption; why is that? You will have to read the book to find out! The only thing I didn’t like about this book are the many lies the characters tells.

Mr. Dickens and His Carol By: Samantha Silva
Another 4 star read, this book is about the making of A Christmas Carol. For the most part it is fiction, but it is a good story. There is some truth in it, and I had a great time reading it. I highly recommend that you give it a go if you enjoy fictional stories about real people.

Paola Santiago and the Forest of Nightmares By: Tehlor Kay Mejia
I also gave this book 4 stars. It is the second book in the Paola Santiago series. I have a review of this book. Here is the link to that review.

A Thief Among The Trees By: Sabaa Tahir
This is a graphic that started the An Ember In The Ashes Series. I also gave this book 4 stars. Graphic novels are a quick read for me, so I was able to read this in setting. The art in this book is wonderful. It’s a beautiful read.

Narwhal on a Sunny Night By: Mary Pope Osborne
This is the last book I read this week. It was another 4-star read that I was able to do in one setting. This book is the 33rd in The Magic Tree House adventures. I just love Jack and Anne, the places, and the adventures they go on. I think it is a great book for young children to be able to read, or have read to them.
So, these are the books I read in the past week. What did you think about the rating I gave them? Have you read any of them and if so what did you think about them? Let me know in the comment section!
Until next time, keep reading.
