I read a total of 9 books (2,261 pages) between July 25th and July 31st, which brings my 2021 reading total to 227 books. Here’s a recap of what I read.

I Am Not A Label By: Cerrie Burnell
I gave this book 5 stars. I have reviewed this book already. I link for the review is here https://debbiesreadingcorner.com/2021/07/27/i-am-not-a-label-a-5-star-book-review/

Small Favors By: Erin A. Craig
I gave this book 4 stars. I have reviewed this book also. The link for that review is here. https://debbiesreadingcorner.com/2021/07/28/book-review-for-small-favors/

The Doctors Blackwell By: Janice P. Nimura
I gave this book 3 stars. This is a nonfiction about a doctor named Elizabeth and her sister. I didn’t realize until I started reading that Elizabeth’s sister was also a doctor. This book takes place in the the 1800’s, when it was not normal for women to want to be anything but nurses. Even being a female nurse was looked down on. This book talks about the struggles these women went through to become doctors.

Skin By: Roald Dahl
I gave this book 3 stars. This book has several short stories written by Dahl. This book is an adult book, and most of the stories in this book were “out there”. This is not what I am used to seeing in his past work, and I was not a huge fan of this book.

Journal of the Trail By: Stewart E. Glazier and Robert S. Clark
This book is a diary about the 1847 trek into Utah and the 1856 trek to Utah. I gave this book 4 stars. In 1847 this was the first migration into Utah, before it became a known as Utah. The 1856 trip was about the Willie and Martin Handcart company. If you haven’t heard about the Willie and Martin handcart fate, you should look it up. It is story of faith, struggle, and death.

Doctor Zhivago By: Boris Pasternak
This is the literary classic I read for the month of July. I try to ready a classic each month, and usually read it at the beginning of the month, but in July I put it off to the end. I gave this book 3 stars. This was written after the Russia revolution- and I just thought it was okay.

The Lady Astronaut of Mars By: Mary Robinette Kowel
I gave this book 4 stars. This is book 4.5 in May Robinette Kowel’s Lady Astronaut series. This is about her going on another trip to outer space . She is older now, and her husband is ill. She wants to go, but doesn’t want to leave her husband. This short book tells you about what she decides to do about this trip.
Bonus Story! The Phobos Experience by Mary Robinette Kowel.
I don’t have a picture for this book because it came from the Fantasy and Science Fiction Magazine. This is 25 pages long written in July/August 2018. I gave this story 3 stars. This is short story is about the same lady astronaut mentioned in Lady Astronaut of Mars. This is about one of earlier trips of explore the universe. It was okay, but it needed to be longer. I felt there was a whole of stuff missing, which left the reader confused.

Spoiler Alert By: Olivia Dade
This was the last book I read for the week. I gave it 3 stars. This is a love story, as you probably figured out by the cover. I enjoyed it. This is about a lady who struggles with her weight. She has family and co-workers who think they are helping her, but they’re not. She writes about her feelings, and some other things, on her twitter. She befriends a man who helps her with writing, and they have a great relationship online. One day she posts a picture of herself with an outfit she designed, and she gets some hate posts. An actor from one of her favorite shows sees these hateful posts and ask her out. The book makes you wonder who her online friend is, and how her celebrity date goes? You will have to read the book to find out.
Have you read any of these books? If so what did you think about them? Do you agree with me or not?
Until next time, keep reading.
